Although the Schindler VF10BR closely resembles the mainstream Vacon CXS inverter, the VF10BR also known by the reference EG5. 5CXS underwent significant modification by Schindler Elevators for application in the elevator market.

These modifications optimised the Schindler VF10BR for use in combination with the Schindler Smart MRL 001 or MRL 002 controller.

In order to use this VVVF for the desired application, large scale changes were made to the drive firmware by Schindler leading to significant challenges when supporting this now obsolete technology.
